Howardian Sword Club

A club for all fencers, novice and experienced, young and old, men and women.

Thinking of joining? A new beginners' course will begin in September 2008, and the club is always keen to welcome experienced fencers too. Visit the Club page for details. You may get in touch by the methods specified on the Contact page for any further details you need.

The last meeting of the summer term 2008 is on Tuesday 8th July. The is closed during the summer holiday period.

The club reconvenes on Tuesday 9th September, 2008.

Sullivan Cup 2008
Scott Hamilton took an excellent second place in the Sullivan Cup, the annual one-hit epee tournament organised by the Whitchurch Club, held this year on 16th March at Pentwyn Leisure Centre.

Welsh Closed Foil Competition 2008
In the Welsh Closed Foil competition held on 2nd March 2008 at The Welsh Institute of Sport, Mike Edwards taook 13th place.

Emrys Lloyd Tournament 2007
In the Emrys Lloyd tournament held at the Welsh Institute of Sport on Sunday 2nd December 2007, the club champion, Scott Hamilton took second place after being defeated in the final by young Gareth Bence from Swansea. The only other Howardian entrant, Mike Edwards, placed 8th.

Team Matches
The Howardian lost to Star Sword Club in two matches held on 6th November at the Howardian Centre. Scores were 45-33 in the foil match, and 25-24 in a foreshortened épée match.

Whitchurch Invitation 2007

Steve Parker won the club Easter épée competition held on Tuesday 27th March. Details on the Events page.

Sullivan Cup, 25th March 2007
Steve Parker took 3rd place, Scott Hamilton took 4th, and Mike Edwards equal 12th.

Welsh Team Foil competition 11th February 2007
In this year's modestly supported competition, the Howardian team attained sixth place, defeated by the narrowest of margins by Gwent C.

The Club Champion for 2006 is Scott Hamilton. Full results on the Events page.

The Howardian played a Foil match and an Épée match against Gwent Sword Club on Monday, 3rd July, 2006, narrowly losing in both.
Scores were:
Foil: Gwent 45 - 41 Howardian
Épée: Gwent 45 - 42 Howardian
